Job Description

To provide quality, patient-centered clinical care through assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients in accordance with established clinical guidelines, hospital policies, and professional standards, while promoting patient safety and optimal health outcomes.

Requirements

  • Registered and licensed by the Clinical Officers Council (COC) with a valid practicing license.
  • Experience in outpatient, inpatient, and emergency clinical services.
  • Strong diagnostic, clinical decision-making, and patient management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ethical conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including history taking and physical examinations.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage patients within the scope of clinical practice and established treatment protocols.
  • Prescribe medications, investigations, and appropriate treatment plans in accordance with applicable guidelines.
  • Request, interpret, and utilize laboratory and radiological investigations to support patient management.
  • Provide emergency and urgent medical care, including stabilization and referral of critically ill patients where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records and clinical documentation.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment plans, and health promotion initiatives.
  • Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, health education activities, and community outreach programs as assigned.
  • Collaborate effectively with medical officers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control standards, patient safety guidelines, and hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and continuous professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution.
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant clinical experience in a busy hospital setting.
